The bearing housing sits above the blade carrier plate and holds the two ball bearings that the cutting disc spins on. This kit includes the housing together with 2 new ball bearings, ready to fit as one unit. It is the genuine GPL/Husqvarna spare part 5884217-02, replacing the older part number 5855733-01.

Why it matters

A worn or dry bearing inside the housing makes the cutting disc wobble instead of spinning true, which shows up as a knocking or grinding noise while mowing and can cause uneven cutting results. Because the housing and bearings wear together, GPL sells them as a matched kit rather than the bearings alone, which avoids fitting fresh bearings into an already worn housing.
