Why it matters
The rear wheels carry the drive motors and provide the traction the mower needs on wet grass and slopes. A wheel with worn or torn rubber grips loses traction, which can trigger wheel-slip alarms, leave visible tracks in the lawn, or cause the mower to get stuck on inclines. If only one wheel looks worn, it is still worth checking the other — uneven wear on the pair can pull the mower off a straight line.
