RAM X-Grip Universal Holder for 9"-11" Tablets

A spring-loaded cradle that grips almost any 9"-11" tablet - with or without a rugged case - and holds it rock-steady in a tractor, ATV, or UTV cab.

Delivery time: 5-7 business days -- this is a special order item from RAM Mounts. If we already have it in stock, you can pick it up the same day at RoboCenter Svedala.

Cab electronics take a beating: dust, vibration, and the occasional bump against the door frame. A holder built for a phone or a light passenger-car tablet will not survive a season in a field. The RAM X-Grip is built specifically for this environment - spring-loaded arms that flex to fit the device instead of a rigid frame that cracks under vibration.

Features

  • Spring-loaded "X" design with rubber caps grips most 9"-11" tablets firmly, even in a case
  • Quick-release grip knobs on the back let you pull the tablet in and out with one hand
  • Built from high-strength composite and stainless steel hardware for demanding environments
  • Optional support arms (sold separately) hold the tablet secure in portrait orientation or under extreme vibration
  • Backed by RAM's lifetime warranty

How RAM's modular system works

This is the cradle only - the third of RAM's three building blocks. It grips the tablet; you still need a separate base that mounts to the cab and an arm that connects the two.

Every RAM mount is built from up to three parts that click together: a base that clamps, bolts, or straps onto the vehicle; an arm that connects two RAM balls and locks at any angle by hand, so the device can be tilted, rotated, and repositioned freely; and a cradle that grips the specific device. RAM ball-and-socket technology means the same cradle works with dozens of different arms and bases - you choose the combination that fits your cab.

This holder attaches to a C-size RAM ball (sold separately, for example the RAM Round Plate with Ball - C Size) - RAM's heavy-duty size, recommended for larger tablets and for anything mounted somewhere that takes a lot of vibration or shock, exactly the case in a tractor, ATV, or UTV cab. Stepping up from the lighter, more common B size to C size is what RAM recommends for this kind of environment, even though a 9"-11" tablet is technically light enough for B size.

RAM does not publish a single maximum-weight number for this cradle in kilograms - the practical limit is the device dimensions listed below, combined with the ball size and weight rating of the arm and base you pair it with. If the tablet ever feels loose under vibration once everything is hand-tightened, that is the sign to step up the ball size on the arm and base, not to force the cradle tighter.

No tools required, on purpose: RAM arms are designed to be tightened by hand only, since the ball-and-socket joint is meant to be adjustable in the field without a wrench.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this come with an arm and base to mount it, or just the cradle?

Just the cradle. This is the device holder only - you need a separate C-size ball base (bolts, rail clamp, or similar) and a C-size double socket arm to complete the mount. We stock the RAM Round Plate with Ball - C Size and matching arms as add-ons.

Will it fit my tablet if it's in a rugged case?

Usually yes - the X-Grip's spring-loaded design is made to close around a case, not just a bare tablet. Measure the tablet including the case against the dimensions above (width, height, depth); RAM's own fitment guide confirms it fits devices such as the iPad Pro 11" and iPad A16.

Is this the same size as FJD's AT2 auto-steer terminal?

Yes - FJD's AT2 auto-steer display (see our Wired Single Screen Solution, AT2 10-inch Screen) is a 10-inch screen, squarely inside this holder's 9"-11" range. If you're mounting an AT2 terminal in the cab, this is the cradle size to choose.

Do I need both optional support arms?

No. They're only needed in two cases: mounting the tablet in portrait orientation (use one, at the bottom), or in extreme vibration environments (use both). In normal landscape use in a cab, the spring-loaded X-arms alone hold the tablet securely.

What's the difference between this and the RAM Tab-Tite holder?

The X-Grip (this product) is a universal spring-loaded design that clamps around whatever tablet you put in it, case or no case - good if you might change tablet models later. The Tab-Tite uses interchangeable form-fit end cups sized to your exact tablet, which holds more precisely but needs the right end cups for your device.

Can it hold the tablet in portrait mode?

Yes, with at least one optional support arm installed at the bottom edge for extra security - the holder itself works in any orientation since it clamps around all four sides of the device.

Is it built for outdoor and rough environments?

Yes. It's built from high-strength composite and stainless steel hardware specifically for demanding environments, and it carries RAM's lifetime warranty.
