RAM Quick-Grip Handlebar Mount for iPhone 12 Series with MagSafe

Delivery time: 5-7 business days -- this is a special order item from RAM Mounts. If we already have it in stock, you can pick it up the same day at RoboCenter Svedala.

A Quick-Grip holder purpose-built to accept an Apple MagSafe Charger, for the iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and 12 mini. Included is a short B-size double socket arm and a zinc-coated U-bolt handlebar base that clamps rails from 1/2" to 1 1/4" in diameter, plus a safety tether.

Why this matters on two wheels

Charging cables and phone mounts do not mix well on a motorcycle -- a loose USB cable flapping near a handlebar is a snag hazard and a connector that works loose from vibration. This holder solves that by accepting an official Apple MagSafe Charger (or RAM's own Qi2 15W wireless charger accessory) directly behind the phone, so the phone charges wirelessly through the case-free or MagSafe-case-covered back with no cable running to the phone itself. The included safety tether is worth taking seriously: RAM specifically requires it for the smaller iPhone 12 mini, since a magnetic-only hold is not considered secure enough on its own for constant motorcycle vibration.

Features

  • Kit includes the Quick-Grip holder for Apple MagSafe Charger, B-size diamond ball base, short double socket arm, and RAM U-bolt base; MagSafe Charger itself is not included
  • Compatible with iPhone 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max with or without an official Apple MagSafe case; not compatible with standard (non-MagSafe) phone cases
  • Removable backing plate lets you adjust the positioning of the MagSafe charging disk to match your exact iPhone 12 model
  • U-bolt base includes a bar spacer and accommodates rails from .5" to 1.25" in diameter
  • Backed by a lifetime warranty

How RAM's modular system works

Every RAM mount is built from up to three parts that click together: a base that clamps, bolts, or straps onto the vehicle (a handlebar, a rail, a dash, or a device's own housing); an arm that connects two RAM balls together and can be locked at any angle, so once mounted you can tilt, rotate, and reposition the device freely and then lock it firmly in place by hand; and a cradle or holder that grips the specific device (phone, tablet, GPS unit, camera).

Not every product includes all three parts -- some are just the base, some bundle a cradle, some are a complete kit. Where that is the case, this page says so plainly, so you know exactly what you are getting and what, if anything, you would need to add.

The ball size determines what it can carry

RAM uses five ball sizes, each rated for a different weight and duty class. B Size (part numbers starting RAM-B-...) is RAM's most common size, standard duty -- what RAM recommends for phones, GPS units, and light tablets in normal use. C Size (plain RAM-... part numbers, no letter prefix) is heavy duty -- used for larger tablets, handheld computers, CB radios, and anything mounted somewhere that gets a lot of vibration or shock, exactly the case on a motorcycle, ATV, or UTV. D and E Size are reserved for large monitors and specialist equipment, rarely needed outside those cases.

Rule of thumb: if the mount will live somewhere that is frequently jostled, vibrated, or under constant load -- a motorcycle or off-road vehicle -- RAM recommends stepping up to the larger ball size (C or D) for extra stability, even if a lighter B-Size mount would technically hold the device's weight.

No tools required, on purpose

RAM arms are designed to be tightened by hand only -- there is no official torque spec, because the ball-and-socket joint is meant to be adjustable in the field without a wrench. If hand-tightening does not hold your device firmly, that is usually a sign the ball size is undersized for the device -- sizing up solves it, rather than over-tightening.

Aluminum or composite -- both built for the outdoors

RAM mounts are made from marine-grade aluminum or high-strength composite, depending on the product; both carry a lifetime warranty and similar weight ratings. Aluminum's powder-coat finish handles rough vibration and shock slightly better; composite has no paint to chip and is often preferred in high-corrosion or salt-air environments. Neither choice is worse -- it is a trade-off between finish and environment.

Important: this is an iPhone 12-series mount only

This holder is sized specifically for the iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and 12 mini -- it does not fit or support iPhone 13, 14, 15, or 16 models. For the iPhone 12 mini specifically, a case is required and the included safety tether must be used, since the mini's smaller frame needs the extra physical backup on top of the magnetic hold. Neither the Apple MagSafe Charger nor a compatible case is included in this kit -- the holder is built to accept them, not to supply them.

Frequently asked questions

Which iPhones does this fit?
iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and 12 mini (12 mini requires a case and use of the included safety tether). It does not support iPhone 13, 14, 15, or 16 models -- this holder is sized specifically for the iPhone 12 series.

Does it come with a MagSafe charger?
No. The holder has a removable backing plate shaped to accept an official Apple MagSafe Charger (sold separately) or RAM's own Qi2 15W wireless charger accessory; neither charger is included in this kit.

Can I use it with a phone case?
Only with no case or an official Apple MagSafe case. It is not compatible with standard (non-MagSafe) phone cases, since the fit and charging alignment depend on the MagSafe magnetic ring.

What is the safety tether for?
It attaches between the holder and the phone or case as a drop-prevention backup, and it is required specifically for the iPhone 12 mini given its smaller frame and lighter magnetic hold.

Does the charging cable use a normal 12V "cigarette lighter" plug?
No -- RAM's documentation for this mount specifies a USB-C male connector with a USB-A adapter, not a cigarette-lighter plug. You power the charger from a USB port or a separate 12V-to-USB adapter.

Will engine vibration affect my iPhone camera over time?
RAM flags that sustained vibration from a high-powered motorcycle engine can affect phone cameras; this is a phone-hardware consideration common to all handlebar phone mounts, not specific to this holder.

Is there a warranty?
Yes, lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
