RAM Quick-Grip XL Phone Holder with Ball
A spring-loaded phone holder sized for today's large phones, with a ball already built in - one part fewer to buy separately compared to most RAM cradles.
Phones have grown steadily larger over the years, and a holder sized for an older, smaller phone will not close securely around a modern flagship - especially not one in a protective case. RAM makes the Quick-Grip in two sizes for exactly this reason: a standard size for smaller phones, and this XL version, built for large phones and phones in bulkier cases.
Features
- Spring-loaded holder with adjustable side supports grips a wide range of large phones and similar devices securely
- Insert and remove the phone with one hand - no straps or extra latches to fumble with
- Comes with a diamond ball base carrying a B-size 1" ball, already attached - no separate ball purchase needed
- Made of powder-coated marine-grade aluminum and high-strength composite
- Backed by RAM's lifetime warranty (rubber and plastic wear parts excluded)
How RAM's modular system works
This product covers two of RAM's three building blocks in one part: it is both the cradle that grips the phone and the ball base you connect an arm to. You still need a double socket arm, and a base that attaches the other end of that arm to the vehicle.
Every RAM mount is built from up to three parts that click together: a base that clamps, bolts, or straps onto the vehicle; an arm that connects two RAM balls and locks at any angle by hand, so the phone can be tilted, rotated, and repositioned freely; and a cradle that grips the device. Here the cradle and one ball are already combined for you.
The built-in ball is B Size (1") - RAM's most common size, and exactly what RAM recommends for phones and GPS units in normal use. It is a lighter-duty size than the C size used on our tablet holders, which matches a phone's much lower weight; any B-size double socket arm will connect to it.
Weight capacity is rated by use case: RAM specifies up to 2 lbs (0.9 kg) for standard use and up to 1 lb (0.45 kg) for heavy-duty use, such as a motorcycle or off-road vehicle where constant vibration is a factor. As with every RAM arm, the joint is tightened by hand only; if the phone moves under vibration once hand-tight, that points to an undersized ball elsewhere in the mount, not a reason to force this holder's own grip tighter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this come with a mounting arm and base, or just the phone holder?
Just the holder and the built-in B-size ball base. You still need a double socket arm and a base that attaches to the vehicle - we stock a range of B-size arms and bases as add-ons.
What's the difference between this XL version and the standard Quick-Grip?
Size. The standard Quick-Grip holder is sized for smaller phones; this XL version opens wider and taller to fit today's large phones and phones in bulky protective cases. Measure your phone with its case against the dimensions above if you're unsure which size you need.
Can I remove the phone with one hand while riding or driving?
The design is meant for quick one-handed insertion and removal, but RAM's own guidance is clear: only remove a device from any holder when the vehicle is stopped and it is safe to do so.
Do the side supports and pins wear out or break?
They can, over time and heavy use - RAM sells a replacement hardware pack (RAM-HAR-PDXU) with new side supports and pins specifically for this reason, so the holder doesn't need to be replaced entirely.
Is the built-in ball compatible with any RAM arm, or only specific ones?
Any B-size (1") RAM double socket arm connects to it - B size is RAM's most common size, so the choice of arms and bases is wide.
