RAM ATV/Side By Side Rail Mount for 10" Tablets with Heavy Duty Cases

Delivery time: 5-7 business days -- this is a special order item from RAM Mounts. If we already have it in stock, you can pick it up the same day at RoboCenter Svedala.

A complete, heavy-duty mounting kit built for securing a 10" tablet -- fitted in a heavy-duty protective case -- to virtually any roll bar or handlebar on an ATV or side-by-side. This is the larger-tablet sibling of RAM's 9"-10.5" rail mount kit, sized specifically for 10" devices in bulkier, more rugged cases.

Why this matters for your operation

A 10" tablet in a heavy-duty case has different dimensions than a bare 10" tablet -- and a cradle sized for the wrong one leaves gaps that let the tablet shift, or won't close around the case at all. This kit's holder is fitted specifically to the heavier-case scenario, while the same hose-clamp-and-U-bolt base as the rest of RAM's ATV/UTV line handles the vehicle side, keeping the strap clamp safely concealed in a compact housing with no exposed sharp edges.

Features

  • Spring-loaded holder secures most 10" tablets with heavy-duty cases; interchangeable end cups let you adapt the holder when you upgrade devices
  • Includes rail and bar base for side-by-sides and ATVs with strap clamp and U-bolt components, a 4-hole AMPS pattern ball adapter, and a C-size medium-length double socket arm
  • Ball and socket technology allows near-infinite adjustability, locked in place by hand
  • Made of powder-coated, marine-grade aluminum and high-strength composite for durability and reliability in the most demanding environments
  • Backed by a lifetime warranty

How RAM's modular system works

Every RAM mount is built from up to three parts that click together. A base clamps, bolts, or straps onto the vehicle -- a rail, a roll bar, a dash, or a device's own housing. An arm connects two RAM balls together and can be locked at any angle, so once mounted you can tilt, rotate, and reposition the device freely, then lock it firmly in place by hand. A cradle or holder grips the specific device -- tablet, phone, or GPS unit.

Not every product includes all three parts -- some are just the base, some bundle a cradle, some are a complete kit. Where that is the case, this page says so plainly, so you know exactly what you are getting and what, if anything, you would need to add.

The ball size determines what it can carry

RAM uses five ball sizes, each rated for a different weight and duty class. B Size (part numbers starting RAM-B-...) is RAM's most common size, standard duty -- what RAM recommends for phones, GPS units, and light tablets in normal use. C Size (plain RAM-... part numbers, no letter prefix) is heavy duty -- used for larger tablets, handheld computers, and anything mounted somewhere that gets a lot of vibration or shock, exactly the case in a tractor, ATV, or UTV cab. D and E Size are reserved for large monitors and specialist equipment, rarely needed outside those cases.

Rule of thumb: if the mount will live somewhere that is frequently jostled, vibrated, or under constant load -- an off-road vehicle in a field -- RAM recommends stepping up to the larger ball size (C or D) for extra stability, even if a lighter B-Size mount would technically hold the device's weight.

No tools required, on purpose

RAM arms are designed to be tightened by hand only -- there is no official torque spec, because the ball-and-socket joint is meant to be adjustable in the field without a wrench. If hand-tightening does not hold your device firmly, that is usually a sign the ball size is undersized for the device -- sizing up solves it, rather than over-tightening.

Aluminum or composite -- both built for the outdoors

RAM mounts are made from marine-grade aluminum or high-strength composite, depending on the product; both carry a lifetime warranty and similar weight ratings. Aluminum's powder-coat finish handles rough vibration and shock slightly better; composite has no paint to chip and is often preferred in high-corrosion or salt-air environments. Neither choice is worse -- it is a trade-off between finish and environment.

What's in the box: a genuinely complete kit

Like its 9"-10.5" sibling, this is a full kit that needs nothing added to become a working mount. In the box: a strap clamp adapter, 2x 1/4"-20 x 1" machine screws, 2x 1/4"-20 nyloc nuts, a zinc worm-drive strap clamp with a 6" rubber strip, two U-bolts sized for 0.5"-1" and 1"-1.25" rails, rubber caps for the exposed U-bolt ends, a U-bolt spacer, the C-size double socket arm, and the spring-loaded Tab-Lock tablet cradle sized for the heavy-duty case.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the 9"-10.5" rail mount (RAM-231Z-2-TABL20U)?
Both use the same rail/bar base and C-size arm, but the cradle dimensions differ: this version is fitted for a 10" tablet in a bulkier heavy-duty case (up to 0.7" depth in a wider/shorter footprint), while the other is sized for 9"-10.5" tablets in standard rugged cases. Always compare your tablet's exact case dimensions against the holder ranges below before choosing between the two.

Does this include everything I need for a complete mount?
Yes. This is a full kit: rail/bar base, C-size arm, and cradle all included, with the mounting hardware for the vehicle side.

How is it mounted -- do I need to drill into my roll bar?
No drilling required. The base uses a hose-clamp/strap system plus an included U-bolt, both designed to fit around common roll bar and handlebar diameters (0.5"-3.15" depending on which clamp method you use) without modifying the vehicle.

Why C-size rather than the smaller B-size ball?
C-size is RAM's heavy-duty rating, recommended for the constant vibration and shock of ATV/UTV use, especially with a larger 10" tablet in a protective case.

Can I swap tablets later if I upgrade?
Yes, within reason. The Tab-Lock cradle's end cups are interchangeable, so a similarly-sized tablet in a similar case can often be accommodated by swapping the end cups rather than replacing the whole holder.

Do I need tools to adjust the angle once it's mounted?
No. The double socket arm is designed to be loosened and re-tightened by hand, so the operator can reposition the tablet without a wrench.

Is there a warranty?
Yes, RAM backs this kit with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
