Can it handle different floor types in one pass, without stopping?
Yes. S55 Pro switches between its 6 cleaning modes automatically as it moves between zones, with no manual intervention or tool changes needed — it is designed to adapt across marble, terrazzo, ceramic tile, PVC and short-pile carpet in the same run.
How does mode switching actually work?
The robot's 15 sensors (including LiDAR with up to 10,000 m² map capacity, a stereo camera and ultrasonic sensors) let it recognize where it is on the map and apply the pre-configured mode for that zone — Scrub, Power Scrub, Sweep & Vacuum, ECO Vacuum, Sweep+Vacuum+Mop, or Dust Mop — one touch to start, no tool changes in between.
What does the IP43 rating mean in practice?
IP43 means the unit is protected against solid objects larger than 1 mm and against water spray up to 60° from vertical. It's built to handle the wet-floor cleaning environment it creates itself, but it is not designed to be hosed down or submerged.
How quiet is it really, in a room with people in it?
As low as 55 dB(A) while scrubbing and 45 dB(A) while dust mopping, thanks to Japanese noise-reduction materials — roughly 20-30 dB below the industry standard for this class of machine, which is one reason it's used in occupied hotels, offices and hospitals during the day.
Does it work on carpet?
Yes, on short-pile carpet under 5.5 mm, using its vacuum and dust-mop modes. It is not intended for deep-pile carpet or for wet scrubbing on carpeted floors.
How long can it run before it needs attention?
With its 22L clean water / 15L waste water tanks, it runs about 4.5 hours in Standard Scrub mode or about 2.5 hours in Power Scrub mode before the tanks need refilling/emptying. Charging takes under 4 hours, and it auto-recharges once battery drops to 10%.
