Autonomous snow clearing

The snow blower that clears by itself

The Nortec Explore X1 with a two-stage snow blower clears driveways and paths along a route you draw in the app. It can start on its own – also when it is dark.

See it at work

Our own film: an Explore X1 with a snow blower clears a country road and a farmyard, from daylight and dusk into the night.

How it works

1

Draw the route

In the app you draw where the robot should clear and where it must not go. You decide the zones yourself.

2

The robot starts on its own

You can let it run automatically. RTK GPS keeps it on the route, and camera and radar detect obstacles.

3

You choose where the snow goes

The chute rotates 0–180° and the deflector is set between 18 and 62°. The snow is thrown 2–12 m away.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle wet Swedish snow?
The two-stage design is built for heavier snow than a single-stage blower. In very wet and packed snow the capacity drops, just as with hand-pushed blowers, which is why we give the capacity at two different snow depths in the table above.

Can it clear automatically at night?
Yes. You draw the route in the app and can let the robot start on its own, for example early in the morning so the driveway is clear before you leave. The robot has its own headlights, as you can see in the film above.

Where does the snow go?
The chute rotates 0–180° and the deflector is set between 18 and 62°, so you control both direction and throw distance within 2–12 metres – away from the garage door, the neighbour's plot or the path.

How large an area does it clear per charge?
About 550 m² at 2.5 cm of snow and 185 m² at 13 cm. Run time is about 90 minutes per charge, and charging is wireless and automatic.

Do I need to switch back to the mowing module in spring?
Yes, and you do it yourself without tools. The same Explore X1 carries the snow blower in winter and a mowing module in summer. Modules are sold separately.

How is it different from the Mowrator with a plow?
The Nortec clears on its own along a route you draw in the app. The Mowrator is driven with a remote control. Compare them on our snow page.
