Ekomoto Retro - classic electric scooter for seniors, 800W, EEC type-approved.
Is this a lithium battery? No - this model uses a lead-acid battery (listed by the supplier as "AC"), not lithium. A lithium-ion version exists in the manufacturer's range but is not what we currently stock.
Does it need to be registered, and what does EEC approval mean? EEC/EU type-approval means the vehicle meets EU-wide requirements for safety, lighting and construction (Regulation (EU) No 168/2013). According to the manufacturer, models within 1000W/25 km/h (like this one) typically do not require vehicle registration or a driving licence - but mandatory traffic insurance still applies, and Sweden's exact classification can vary by configuration, so confirm with us or Transportstyrelsen before you buy.
Is the storage box removable? According to the manufacturer's specification this model comes with a rear storage box with a lock as standard. Depending on how the vehicle is ordered (assembled or unassembled), the box may arrive as a separate part that needs to be mounted when the vehicle is delivered - ask us about your specific unit.
Lights and alarm: as an EEC type-approved vehicle it is equipped with approved lighting for public roads, and it has a remote-control alarm system.
What is the difference between a prescribed medical mobility scooter ("permobil") and our vehicles? A prescribed mobility scooter is issued by an occupational therapist after a functional assessment, owned by the regional health authority and loaned out rather than bought, heavily subsidised or free, classified as a medical aid rather than a vehicle, may be driven on pavements, requires neither a driving licence nor registration, and travels at walking pace (typically up to 15 km/h).
Our vehicles are purchased freely, without a referral or medical assessment. They are EEC/EU type-approved for public roads, travel considerably faster (25-45 km/h depending on model), and depending on the model may require registration, a driving licence and traffic insurance. In short: a prescribed mobility scooter is a healthcare aid, our vehicles are everyday transport anyone can buy - faster and more car-like, but with the vehicle responsibilities a prescribed scooter doesn't carry.
