NEW PRODUCT - IN STOCK
FJD RM21P Rough Ranger
Built for turf. Ready for more.
The new generation of the FJD RM21: an autonomous platform that mows, picks balls, marks lines, collects grass and brushes dew - with RTK precision and no boundary wire. In Sweden also known as Ruffklipparen.
Up to 90% lower labour cost, 80% lower energy cost and 50% higher operating ROI - according to FJDynamics.
What is new in the RM21P
The RM21 platform has proven itself over four to five seasons. The RM21P is the new generation - refined point by point based on feedback from the greenkeepers and operators who run these machines every day.
Floating front on bearings
The old front was rigid - on undulating ground the robot could stand on only three wheels. The new front is mechanically mounted on bearings and follows the terrain.
Spring-loaded cutting deck
Better mounted and suspended on springs - it follows the contours of the ground for a visibly more even result.
Battery swap in minutes
Two rubber latches on the rear cover - open, swap, keep mowing. With a spare set the machine runs around the clock. Same 2 kWh battery as the RM21 and RCM01.
Easier to service
Components inside the body are easier to reach - faster service and repairs.
Smarter charging port
Moved to the centre of the rear - easier to connect the external charger cable.
Uneven terrain? No problem.
This is the heart of the P generation - see how the chassis works underneath.
Stable operation
The front suspension chassis keeps all wheels on the ground on undulating turf - stable operation and better traction.
Consistent cutting
The floating cutting deck follows uneven ground so the cutting height stays consistent across the whole surface.

One robot - five jobs
The Rough Ranger is a platform: hook on the accessory and the same machine mows, picks range balls, marks lines, collects grass or brushes dew. Every accessory is available from RoboService.
Smarter mowing. Fewer missed areas.
RTK + LiDAR navigation
Centimetre precision even where the GNSS signal is challenged - under trees and close to buildings.
Smart path planning
Optimised routes with less overlap - more area covered per charge.
Multi-layer safety
360-degree LiDAR and bumpers stop the machine for people, animals and obstacles.
Multi-zone management
Coordinate several turf areas in one plan - fairways, sports fields and surrounding grounds.
From scan to mowing - one workflow
Scan the course once with an FJD Trion scanner, define boundaries with the V4E Pro, build a 3D model, assign tasks and let the Rough Ranger do the rest. RoboService supplies the whole chain.

Frequently asked questions - golf and football
Golf
Does the Rough Ranger mow greens?
No. It is built for rough, semi-rough and surrounds with rotary cutting. Greens are kept at a few millimetres and keep their dedicated greens mower - the FJD RCM01 handles fairways and tees.
RCM01 or RM21P - what should a golf club choose?
Usually both: the RCM01 cylinder-mows fairways, the RM21P handles rough and semi-rough plus the accessory jobs (balls, lines, dew). We dimension the fleet per course with a zone map.
Can it work while the course is open?
Yes. 360-degree LiDAR and bumpers stop it for people and obstacles, and most clubs schedule it at night or early morning so the course is ready before the first tee time.
How much rough does one machine cover?
Up to 93,600 m² per 72 hours with standard charging - 108,000 m² with fast charging. Exact sizing is done per course in the quote.
Does it handle slopes and rough edges?
Up to 20 degrees (15 degrees recommended for continuous work). Steeper sections such as bunker faces are set as no-go zones or handled manually.
What about bunkers and water hazards?
They are drawn as no-go zones in the digital map and the robot plans its routes around them.
Can it pick balls on the driving range?
Yes, with the BP01 attachment it picks and unloads range balls automatically - while the range stays open.
What is dew brushing good for?
The DB01 booms sweep the morning dew off the turf - drier, smoother play earlier in the day and less disease pressure on the grass.
What happens if it meets a golf cart or a player?
It detects and stops. FJD safety instructions also specify keeping a 30 metre safety distance to a working machine, which we cover in the operator training.
Football and sports fields
What cutting height should we use for football?
25-35 mm is the common recommendation for match surfaces. The RM21P covers 20-120 mm, so it also handles training areas and surrounds with taller grass.
How many pitches does one machine manage?
One charge covers 12,000 m² - a full-size pitch (about 7,140 m²) with margin. Over 72 hours it covers up to 93,600 m², the equivalent of around 13 pitches.
Can it mark the lines too?
Yes, with the LM01 line marking kit it paints straight from the pitch map - perfect lines with less paint, time after time.
How do we handle match days?
Schedule mowing and line marking the night before - the pitch is match-ready in the morning without tying up staff.
Does it work on artificial turf?
No - robotic mowers are for natural grass. Artificial turf is not mowed.
Can it collect the clippings?
Yes, with the GC01 collector it mows and collects in one pass and empties the hopper where you want it.
Is it safe on public and municipal grounds?
Yes: 360-degree LiDAR, bumpers and trained operators. On public grounds we also recommend signage that robotic mowing is in progress.
Is it quiet enough for night mowing?
It is fully electric and low-noise - night and early-morning operation is the standard setup for sports facilities.
Technology and operation
Do I need a boundary wire?
No. Boundaries are drawn in the digital map and the robot navigates with RTK and LiDAR - no wire in the ground.
What is needed for RTK to work?
An NTRIP correction service over 4G. RoboService runs its own RoboRTK subscription, so you get the whole chain from one supplier.
What happens if the GPS signal drops?
Under trees and near buildings the LiDAR takes over. If positioning cannot be secured, the machine pauses safely until the signal is back.
Does it mow in rain?
It is IPX4 rated and handles normal rain. In heavy storms or thunder FJD recommends pausing operation.
What do we do in winter?
The mowing season ends - RoboService offers winter service and storage so the machine is serviced, cleaned and ready for spring.
How does the battery swap work?
The rear cover sits on two rubber latches - open, swap the two 2 kWh batteries and keep mowing. A swap takes a couple of minutes without tools, and the batteries are shared with the RM21 and RCM01.
How long does charging take?
5 hours standard, 3 hours with fast charging. Each charge covers up to 12,000 m² with up to 5 hours of runtime.
Can I control it manually?
Yes, a remote control with sticks and blade switch is included for transport and precision situations.
Is the app in Swedish?
Parts of the FJD ecosystem are in English. RoboService trains your team in Swedish and provides Swedish support.
