Frequently asked questions

What exactly do I get over the standard S2?

Double the LiDAR: 32 channels instead of 16 and 640,000 points per second instead of 320,000, at the same 120 m range. Everything else - cameras, SLAM, RTK, weight - is the same proven platform.

When is the S2Pro the right choice?

When the deliverable demands detail: scan-to-BIM, as-built documentation, forestry inventory and complex industrial environments with thin structures.

When should I pick the S2Max instead?

When range decides: the S2Max has the same 640,000 pts/s density but reaches 300 metres - golf courses, corridors and open areas in far fewer setups.

Do the same accessories fit?

Yes - vest, poles, mounts, suitcase and backpack are shared across the whole S2 series.

Do I need RTK/GNSS?

No - SLAM positioning works entirely without satellites. Add RTK with an NTRIP subscription only when the result must sit in real coordinates.

What software is used?

The free FJD Trion Scan app in the field and FJD Trion Model for post-processing - licences are sold separately from us.
