Ekomoto J7 – electric cabin car, moped class I or II
Ekomoto J7 is an electric, weatherproof cabin car with a 1000 W motor and 65 Ah battery. Total weight 305 kg, dimensions 253x110x154 cm. EEC type-approved for public road use.
You choose the class when you order. The price is the same, and we set up the vehicle in our workshop according to your choice. It is the same car – the difference is how it is set up and which rules apply.

Which class should I choose?
Class II suits you if you want to avoid registration and number plates and are fine with 25 km/h. Class I suits you if you want to keep up speed on larger roads and are prepared for registration, a number plate and a driving licence with AM.
Changing class – only through us
The class is set by reconnecting a cable under the body. This is done only by RoboService in our workshop, never by you. If you change the class yourself, the vehicle no longer matches its certificate and registration, it is illegal and the insurance can become invalid. The eco mode in the vehicle does not change the legal class.
If you want to go from class II to class I later, we do the reconnection, the vehicle is registered as class I, you receive a number plate and change the insurance to class I. Note that a vehicle registered as class I cannot be set back to class II.
Parking
The moped car is parked under the same rules as a passenger car, in both classes – never on a footpath or cycle path. The exception in the Road Traffic Ordinance that allows parking on the pavement applies only to two-wheeled bicycles and class II mopeds, not to a moped car. Malmö stad states explicitly that moped cars are parked as cars, with a fee according to the sign. How a class II without a registration number is handled in a parking app varies, so ask your municipality.
Is this a lithium battery?
No – this model uses a lead-acid battery (listed by the supplier as "AC"), not lithium. A lithium-ion version exists in the manufacturer's range at a higher price but is not what we currently stock.
What does EEC approval mean?
EEC/EU type-approval means the vehicle meets EU-wide requirements for safety, lighting and construction (Regulation (EU) No 168/2013) and can be registered anywhere in the EU. Every J7 is delivered with a certificate (CoC).
Lights and alarm
Confirmed by the manufacturer: full LED lighting (low/high beam, rear and brake lights, turn signals) for day and night visibility, plus a remote-control alarm system.
What is the difference between a prescribed mobility scooter and our vehicles?
A prescribed mobility scooter is issued by an occupational therapist after a functional assessment, is owned by the region and lent out rather than bought, is heavily subsidised or free, counts as a medical aid and not as a vehicle, may be driven on the pavement, requires neither a driving licence nor registration and travels at walking pace (usually up to 15 km/h).
You buy our vehicles freely, without a referral or medical assessment. They are EEC/EU type-approved for public roads, travel considerably faster (25–45 km/h depending on the model) and, depending on model and class, can require registration, a driving licence and traffic insurance. In short: a prescribed mobility scooter is a care aid, our vehicles are everyday transport that anyone can buy – faster and more car-like, but with the vehicle responsibility that a prescribed scooter avoids.
